Burglaries and smear attacks: Police hunt perpetrators in Barnim!
In recent days, incidents have repeatedly occurred in Barnim, keeping both the police and residents on their toes. On November 20, 2025, there were several attempted break-ins and an incident of vandalism, all of which attracted unpleasant attention. According to Barnim Aktuell, burglars on Siegfriedstrasse in Neu-Lindenberg failed because of a patio door that withstood attempts to break into it. After this failed attempt, the perpetrators left undetected.
Just hours later, an attempt was made to load a Multicar with a trailer in Lindenberg, but this also failed. Fortunately, the vehicle remained undamaged, but the criminal police are now investigating because the trailer was previously stolen and was wanted in Berlin.
More attempted break-ins and shoplifting
In the early morning of November 21st, police officers were called to Dorfstrasse in Panketal. Residents there had observed suspects hanging around on company premises. The burglars had gained access to the business premises but disappeared when they were discovered. Here, the identity of the perpetrators remains a mystery and the investigation is in full swing.
In another incident on the same day, a 30-year-old man was caught shoplifting on Leibnitzstrasse in Eberswalde. Even when the police came, it turned out that there was already a warrant for his arrest. Since the man was unable to pay the fine, he will now have to serve a substitute prison sentence.
Vandalism with right-wing extremist symbolism
Another worrying development concerns the graffitiing of swastikas in Barnim, which has noticeably increased in recent months. According to a report from [NAG Brandenburg](https://nag-brandenburg.de/brandenburg/zentrum/barnim/einbruch-und- Hakenkreuz-graffiti-polizei-ermittelt-im-barnim), swastikas and other right-wing extremist slogans were sprayed on Börnicker Chaussee and Herkulesstraße. The police had to remove these symbols, which highlights the need for educational work on such issues.
Another scandalous incident occurred when two 13-year-old graffiti artists were seen defacing garage doors on Walter-Kohn-Strasse. The material damage amounts to around 1,000 euros. The increasing occurrence of right-wing extremist symbolically expressed crimes raises questions and urgently requires social discussion. In Germany, statistics from the Federal Criminal Police Office show that politically motivated crimes and acts of violence with a right-wing extremist background have been at a high level for years.
The situation in Barnim clearly shows that there is a need for action here. Citizens and authorities are asked to find solutions together and take a stand against right-wing extremism. It remains to be hoped that the police investigation will lead to a clarification of the crimes and that such activities can be curbed.
