Elfklässler shape the future: creative urban planning in Senftenberg!
In the idyllic city of Senftenberg, students from the Friedrich-Engels-Gymnasium made a remarkable contribution to urban planning. Together, the eleventh graders developed creative ideas for the design of the elster bank between the skating park and the city harbor. On Monday, June 16, 2025, these exciting concepts were presented in the town hall, and interested parties were cordially invited to look at the results that were exhibited in the council hall between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The Radiolausitz reports about the projects that were created as part of the future workshop "City Decker".
The eleventh-grader visions had it all: Six creative suggestions were presented, including a natural pool that is to be fed directly from the lake, as well as a unique "lake lounge" with an boom over the water. A covered skating park for all year round was also found in the list, as did a leisure pool for families with small children and modular retreats for chilling. The presentation was not only an exhibition of sketches and models, but also a contribution to a youth -friendly and future -oriented freedom design, which is supported by the Brandenburg Ministry of Infrastructure, as the Radiocottbus also shown.
The importance of child -friendly freedom
The idea of actively involving children and adolescents in urban planning is underpinned by a research project by the Federal Institute for Building, Urban and Spatial Research. BBSR emphasizes that children's and youthful freedom for healthy and adolescent quality are essential. Free space planning is not only a strategic field of action, but also of central importance for the future development of our cities.
According to the research results, child and youth-friendly freedom are not only important for the development of young people, but also crucial for the design of living city square. The integration of children into the planning ensures that their interests are taken into account and that they feel comfortable in their habitats.
The students of the students: Inside in Senftenberg, it is once more clear how important it is to introduce young people to the design of their surroundings. After all, they are the beneficiaries of these rooms and can provide valuable impulses for a cross -generational and need -based freedom design. The support from politics and administration is essential for this.
