ÖVP Senftenberg: Christine Schneider new chairwoman – new start for the community!

There are new developments in the market town of Senftenberg that affect both the political and visual identity of the place. Christine Schneider was elected as the new chairwoman of the ÖVP Senftenberg at the community party conference. This decision became necessary after Stefan Seif resigned as mayor and party chairman. Fortunately, Schneider, who was already acting municipal party leader, now took over the official leadership of the party. She is supported by Mayor Markus Klamminger and Anna Kolar as deputies. Herbert Seif was also appointed financial officer. Klamminger looked back on two years of his term in office and presented impressive projects, including the extensive renovation of playgrounds and construction work on sidewalks. Particularly noteworthy is the renovation and expansion of the kindergarten, which is considered the greatest success. Guests of honor such as district party chairman Josef Edlinger and National Councilor Lukas Brandweiner were also present and praised the new developments.

But that's not all! The market town has decided to refresh its appearance. Apart from the political realignment, Senftenberg will receive a new logo and a modernized overall appearance. This step was initiated by Vice Mayor Christine Schneider and Mayor Markus Klamminger, who began planning with their community team in spring 2025. Originally, only the website was supposed to be modernized, but it quickly became clear that a more comprehensive concept was needed for the community's presence. Citizen participation plays a key role here: suggestions and proposals were collected in two citizens' evenings, which shows that the opinion of the population is taken seriously.

A new logo for Senftenberg

The new logo, designed by Pamela Schmatz, symbolizes the connection between the five cadastral communities: Imbach, Königsalm, Priel, Reichaueramt and Senftenberg. A particular focus is on the four key concepts that represent the region: wine, health, history and nature. Each district is acknowledged by name in internal communication, while the external appearance leaves a uniform and modern impression. A manual will be created to make it easier for local clubs and businesses to use the new logo. At the same time, we are working on a new homepage and a redesign of community documents and the community newspaper. The new appearance is planned to be fully implemented by the end of 2025, which will allow Senftenberg to continuously offer its citizens a fresh and tailored appearance.

The role of citizen participation

A crucial fact that should not be forgotten is the role of citizen participation. This is viewed as the basis for community development because committed citizens actively contribute to the design and improvement of their living space. It's not just about expressing opinions, but also about working through conflicts and actively supporting public projects. Social networks and the voluntary commitment of young and old are central aspects of local life and play a crucial role in the quality of life of community residents. The current realignment and the measures to strengthen the municipality's visual appearance make it clear that Senftenberg relies on the active participation of its citizens in order to promote future-oriented and democratic processes.
