Blood donation in Calau: Help save lives – all the information now!

A completely normal Sunday that offers the chance to do something good: On July 22, 2025, the DRK Blood Donation Service Northeast is hosting a blood donation appointment in Calau. Already today, on July 21st, those interested can find out what they need to make a successful donation and what requirements apply.

Anyone who would like to offer their help should be at least 18 years old and healthy. The first blood donation may not be carried out by people over 65 years of age, but up to their 73rd birthday if their health permits. A preliminary medical examination will be carried out on site to ensure suitability. In addition to age, other factors also play a role. Donors must weigh at least 50 kilograms and at least 56 days should have passed since the last donation. Piercings and tattoos should also be taken into account: initially, these should be at least four months old so as not to risk any reserves. Further details on the requirements are provided by the blood donation service, which provides information here about the requirements for a blood donation.

What do I need to bring with me?

If you decide to donate blood, it is best to bring an ID card or appropriate ID with you. Good preparation is also required: To donate, the living should eat enough (but please not too greasy) and drink enough - alcohol-free, of course.

The donation frequency is clearly regulated. Men are allowed to donate up to six times a year, women a maximum of four times. It is important that there is a minimum interval of eight weeks between donations. This information and much more can be found on the DRK website, where you can also find an overview of other blood donation appointments in the region.

Help and save lives

The importance of blood donation cannot be overemphasized. Blood donations save lives, and every individual can contribute. As much as blood donations are in demand, the service relies on regular support to meet the need. Many people depend on this elixir of life, be it after accidents or during certain treatments.

The DRK team encourages everyone who meets the requirements to take part. It is obvious that each of us could be dependent on blood donations at some point. Take advantage of the opportunity, perhaps even tomorrow, to make a valuable contribution. If you have any questions, the friendly staff at the blood donation service are available. You can reach this via the free hotline on 0800 / 11 949 11.

The motto remains clear: Help together, live together. Everyone can contribute, and it's a small but meaningful commitment to help others.
