Who will be athlete of the week? Vote online now!

There's another exciting vote coming up this week, as the MOZ is looking for the athlete of the week, and the nominations bring a lot of action to the local sports landscape. There are three football heavyweights to choose from: Martin Oertel, Erik Huwe and Max Herrmann. Who will win the race? The voting deadline is June 23, 2025 at 11:59 p.m., and as usual: voting is only possible online. So, watch out! MOZ reports that ...

Let's start with Martin Oertel from FC Schwedt Ü35. He showed a brilliant performance in the 5-0 win over SpG Casekow/Schönow/Passow and scored four times. He is currently in second place on the oldies top scorer list with 27 goals this season and has already scored 43 goals in 20 games in the 2023/24 season. He also plays for FC Schwedt's second team, where he scored 18 goals in 18 games in the district league. The second team also did well and is in second place in their league.

Erik Huwe from 1. FC Frankfurt's second team can also look back on an impressive season. With his opening goal, he secured the 2-0 win against FC Union Frankfurt and thus the championship title in the Ostbrandenburg regional league, which means promotion to the state league. Huwe has scored 12 goals in 24 appearances this season, has played less since 2023 due to injury, but was previously first team captain. Now he is looking forward to the district cup final on June 28th against SG Hennickendorf/Rehfelde.

Max Herrmann and the domestic competition

Max Herrmann from Grün-Weiss Ahrensfelde II also has reason to be happy. Although his team is only expected to finish fourth in the North regional class, he was able to score the decisive goal in a 2-1 win against Oranienburger FC Eintracht II. With a total of 14 goals this season, he is his team's top scorer. His last game of the season will be against champions Angermünde on June 21st and we are excited to see whether he can strike again there.

But it's not just the MOZ or the athletes of the week that are in focus. The Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung has also nominated its heroes of the week from the sports sector. Daniel Bittner from SV Falkensee-Finkenkrug, Tim Dethloff from Fortuna Babelsberg and Jonas Günther from BSG Stahl Brandenburg can also hope for the title. Bittner secured an important 2-1 win by saving two penalties, Dethloff scored the winning goal in a 4-3 victory, and Günther even scored a hat-trick in his team's 9-2 victory. MAZ reports that ...

The competition in local sports

The Lausitzer Rundschau also has its sporting heroes in its sights. Maurice Joel Zimmermann, Marvin Groll and André Bauer are the nominations that will have to be voted on in the next few days. Zimmermann scored 15 goals in a creative game and is leading the scorers list. Groll had a strong performance with three goals and Bauer secured the decisive goal for Pneumant Fürstenwalde with a penalty. LR reports that ...
