Bat Night 2025: Off to the big night of flying friends!

The last weekend in August in Brandenburg will be all about bats! It will take place on August 30th and 31st, 2025 International Bat Night takes place, an event that is celebrated in 38 countries. Organized by NABU, Batnight not only offers an entertaining opportunity to experience the fascinating flying artists, but also valuable information about their protection and their habitats.

The information shows that there are around 25 different species of bats in Germany. Now very important: None of these species eat blood! Instead, they feast on a diet of insects. But despite their usefulness, many of them are threatened, particularly by habitat decline due to deforestation and insect extinction. Four species are even critically endangered. This is where Batnight comes into play, which aims to raise awareness about the protection of bats.

Events in Brandenburg

In Brandenburg, numerous events take place around Batnight that not only offer exciting insights, but also aim to increase awareness of the protection of bats. Here are some of the highlights:

• Börnicke bei Bernau
  Datum: 29. August, von 19:30 bis ca. 21:30 Uhr
  Veranstalter: NABU Barnim
  Aktivitäten: Exkursion ins FFH-Gebiet „Börnicke“, Suche nach Höhlenbäumen, Einblick in Fledermauskästen, Nutzung eines Ultraschalldetektors und Nachtsichtgeräts. Treffpunkt ist der Rastplatz am Kinderbauernhof Börnicke, Ernst-Thälmann-Straße 2, 16321 Bernau bei Berlin.
• Doberlug-Kirchhain
  Datum: 30. August, von 18 bis 23 Uhr
  Aktivitäten: Hier dürfen sich die Gäste auf eine Spiel-, Mal- und Bastelstraße freuen, bei der Holzflachkästen montiert werden, sowie auf Kurzfilme über Fledermäuse und geführte Gruppenangebote. Anmeldungen sind unter 035322-518066 oder info@naturpark-nlh.de möglich.
• Rühstädt
  Datum: 30./31. August, von 17 bis 11 Uhr
  Für Kinder mit Begleitperson gibt es ein aufregendes Lager im Grünen Klassenzimmer mit der Möglichkeit, Fledermauskästen zu bauen und unter freiem Himmel zu übernachten. Interessierte können sich unter diesem Link anmelden.
• Neuenhagen bei Berlin
  Datum: 5. September, ab 19 Uhr
  Hier wird eine Fangaktion zur Artbestimmung durchgeführt und es gibt Spiele, Kinderschminken sowie ein Fledermausquiz. Treffpunkt ist der Hellpfühlepark in Neuenhagen.
• Bad Belzig
  Datum: 6. September, von 18 bis 23 Uhr
  In Bad Belzig kann man Informationen erhalten, basteln und die nächtliche Tierwelt erkunden, inklusive einer Netzfang-Aktion zur Beobachtung von Fledermausarten. Der Ort ist das Anglerheim, Straße Am Kurpark.
