Attack on queer rally in Bad Freienwalde - perpetrator fled!
in Bad Freienwalde, Brandenburg, there was a brutal attack on the participants of a rally under the motto "For a colorful Bad Freienwalde" on Sunday. Around ten to fifteen hooded attackers moved to the meeting with teleco punches and quartz gloves, shortly before the clock hit twelve. The aim of the attack was above all members of the Queeren Community who took part in the event, such as the City Report . At least two people suffered minor injuries in the incident, which, however, did not require medical treatment.
The attackers fled towards Kanalstrasse before the police arrived. Immediate investigations have been initiated, both because of dangerous bodily harm and due to violation of the meeting law. Anyone who has information about the incident can report on 03341-3300 or via the Brandenburg police internet. Interior Minister René Wilke sharply condemned the attack and emphasizes that the right to meetings is inalienable. Wilke asked to proceed against such attacks.
a worrying trend
This incident is part of a worrying development: in 2023 the Federal Criminal Police Office recorded an alarming increase in queer -hostile crimes in Germany. Compared to the previous year there was an increase of around 50 percent. A total of 1,785 acts were registered against members of the LSBTIQ*community. Insults, acts of violence and incitements are particularly common, as reported.
Statistics shows that the number of crimes has almost tenfold due to sexual orientation and gender -related diversity since 2010. Authorities also assume a high number of unreported cases, which underlines the actual threat to the Queere Community. Accordingly, Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser called for the consistent persecution of all queer anti -queer acts of violence.
preparations and colorful messages
Despite the attacks, the rally was a signal for diversity and tolerance. The event had a comprehensive supporting program that included a children's program, live music and a graffiti workshop. This impressively shows the efforts of many to defend themselves against hatred and agitation. But the incident leaves questions about security and protecting the participants at a time when the social ditches apparently become deeper.
The citizens in Bad Freienwalde are now together to set a sign of a colorful coexistence. With this rally, the alliance "Bad Freienwalde is colorful" gained a voice against discrimination and violence and shows how important it is to represent your own opinion despite continuing threats.
