Attention clubs and young people: big event on September 19th!

An exciting event is coming! On Friday, September 19th, the Autumn and Club Mile and the YoungCity Mile will take place in Prenzlau. Originally planned for May, the YoungCityMeile has been postponed to this date for organizational reasons. City manager Susanne Ramm calls on all interested clubs and initiative groups to register. Registration forms have already been sent to partners and supporters from previous years, so nothing stands in the way of a colorful program. It is a wonderful opportunity for clubs to present themselves and gain missing sponsors. Mayor Hendrik Sommer (independent) will also be there and present agenda diplomas to the committed participants.

The events begin at 2 p.m. and construction begins at 12 p.m. The YoungCityMeile will be held on the Marktberg, while the Autumn and Club Mile will take place on Friedrichstrasse. This second mile offers over two dozen clubs and initiatives a platform to present their wide range of offerings - from sports to beekeeping to volunteer projects. A particular focus is on political education with a democracy tour aimed at young and first-time voters.

Diverse program and highlights

The Agenda diploma award ceremony is one of the program highlights, as is the presentation of certificates to partners and supporters of the Agenda projects. Another treat will be the first Agenda film, which summarizes the holiday offers in our beautiful Prenzlau. The Prenzlauer Carneval Club and the Zumbakids from IG Frauen und Familie e.V. will also provide entertainment on a stage.

Civic engagement is a topic that is of great importance not only in Prenzlau, but throughout the country. In Germany, almost 30 million people are active on a voluntary basis and not only provide support during crises, but are also involved in local parliaments, sports clubs and youth associations. It is important to recognize this work more, especially in difficult times such as those recently witnessed in society. This also calls for voluntary work to receive greater financial support and unbureaucratic framework conditions. Too often it is the small supports that make the difference.

The link between the preparations for the YoungCity Mile and civic engagement is obvious. It is not only an opportunity for participants to network and find new partners, but also a platform to strengthen the democratic community. The event will create a space in which civil society engagement can develop and be heard. This also makes a small contribution to strengthening democracy in Germany, because it is the committed citizens who complete the mosaic of our society. So let's prepare for a great event that is not only entertaining, but also advances the community in Prenzlau!
