Lantern magic in Prenzlau: A magical evening for young and old!

On November 7th, a very special event was celebrated in Prenzlau: the traditional lantern parade, which made the hearts of young and old beat faster. Organized by the city's daycare centers, the parade moved through the streets and created an atmospheric atmosphere. “The anticipation was palpable everywhere,” said Carmen Kelichhaus from the Office for Education, Sport and Social Affairs, who praised the commitment of the educators.

Around 1,500 people took part in the parade, including numerous children, parents and grandparents. The participants were also captivated by lovingly designed, sometimes scary surprises along the route. The path led through the idyllic city park to the seaside resort, where a stage show captivated visitors. Here, 17 children between the ages of six and ten showed their talents together with eight educators, which was rewarded with great applause.

An evening full of light and music

Musical entertainment was provided by the shawm band of the SC “Eintracht” Rossow e.V., which provided the right momentum with its 30 musicians. In the seaside resort, all guests were warmly welcomed by Marek Wöller-Beetz, the future mayor, as well as Mireé Kolm, the reigning swan queen, and her maid of honor. Silvio Grensing moderated the evening and led those present through the colorful program.

The crowning conclusion of the festival was an impressive fireworks display that shone over the Uckersee and caused enthusiasm among the visitors. This unique spectacle was the highlight of an evening that was characterized by a sense of community and anticipation. The friendly atmosphere and the commitment of the children and teachers made the lantern parade an unforgettable experience for all participants.

Events like the lantern parade not only bring joy, but also strengthen togetherness in the community and create special memories. At a time when solidarity is more important than ever, this parade shows how vibrant the community in Prenzlau is. With this in mind: Here’s to many more beautiful events in the city!
