Pritzwalk cheers: Havelberger Straße after a long construction time again!

After over a year of intensive construction work, drivers can finally drive Havelberger Strasse in Pritzwalk unhindered again. The official approval of the street was celebrated with a small celebration, in the city administration, construction company, municipal utility, residents and city councilors, such as the MAZ reported. The last section of the renovation extended over 270 meters between the reepher and the level crossing and was started on April 22, 2024.

The comprehensive renovation included four construction phases, which were carried out with partial closures. It should be emphasized that Havelberger Straße is now barrier -free. Mayor Ronald Thiel said that the patience of the residents and the reliability of the companies involved have contributed significantly to the positive course in this large project.

The details of the renovation

Working on Havelberger Strasse represent one of the most important construction projects in Pritzwalk in recent years.

• 260 meters of concrete pipes for rain drainage
• 46 new house connections

• 9 new street lamps
• 2000 square meters asphalt
• 2380 square meters of concrete stone paving

• 1200 beet roses

Another important aspect was the renewal of all supply lines, which was realized by the water and wastewater purpose association and the Pritzwalk municipal utility company.

The construction costs amount to around two million euros. These were financed from the urban budget and additional load compensation. Residents had suffered from traffic noise for years before the first plans for the renewal of the street began in 2017. The first draft plans then followed from 2020.

After the construction for Havelberger Straße has now been completed, the road together with the walkway systems was found as good. From today, through traffic can easily roll through the B 107 through Pritzwalk. Even if some remaining work is still available, the construction site protection was dismantled on Friday, November 17th, Pritzwalk.de reported.

The residents finally succeed in a noticeable relief, the traffic situation has improved considerably. With this new renewal, Havelberger Straße is now technically up to date and plays a central role in the inner -city traffic of Pritzwalk.
