The journey through time to the Middle Ages is just around the corner! On the coming weekend days, June 21 and 22, the record castle in Prignitz will become an exciting knight tournament and festive activities. The Plattenburg spectacle promises an exciting program for the whole family, organized by the tourism association Prignitz in Enger Cooperation with the municipality of Plattenburg.
The event begins on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with a colorful hustle and bustle. Visitors can look forward to exciting knight tournaments, in which professional riders compete against each other in up to 35 kilograms of iron armor and authentic weapons from the High Middle Ages are used. The Saturday evening is rounded off with a colorful tavern play, accompanied by music, juggling and acrobatics. The highlight is a fire spectacle in the castle courtyard. The Plattenburg itself, as Northern Germany's oldest preserved water castle, offers the perfect historical framework for this spectacle. Around 70 sales and craft stands will present the sheaves of the Middle Ages and demonstrate some traditional crafts. Flower wreaths braid in cooperation with the VR-Bank Prignitz and learning traditional circle dances around the maypole round off the experience. Such a festival cannot be enjoyed without a good piece of cuisine. Therefore, a varied range of regional specialties will be available. Visitors can look forward to mead, beer and hearty pan dishes, freshly baked grain products and vegetarian delicacies. Many of these delicacies come from local providers from the Prignitz.
