Neuruppin has a huge problem: rats! Residents and walkers along the waterfront repeatedly complain about the unwanted rodents, which seem to be thriving. Complaints have increased in recent years, but despite several efforts by the city, there has been no success. The situation has become so serious that a press release was issued on June 13th announcing new measures to combat the rat population. From June 16th, special bait boxes will be set up to get the problem under control Moz.de reported.

The planned bait boxes will be set up in the section from the wooden jetty at Parzival to the lake dam. These boxes are made of metal, are closed and securely fastened. The duration of the control measures depends on how well the rats accept the bait. Particularly important: The boxes are designed in such a way that they do not pose a danger to people or animals. However, we ask that you use them responsibly - in particular, children and pets should be kept away from the boxes.

Rats and their risks

The checks carried out on site showed that we are dealing with a serious rat population. During an on-site visit, holes in the ground were discovered and rats were spotted. Such animals can transmit diseases, which makes the need for targeted rat control measures all the more urgent.
