Adventure weekend in OPR: festivals, concerts and fairy tales for everyone!

This weekend from July 18th to 20th, the Ostprignitz-Ruppin region will be all about art, culture and social gatherings. Numerous events attract people to the cities and villages, to markets and festivals - a real highlight for the entire community!

Friday begins with a “Herzhaftes” meeting café in Barsikow, which takes place between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. in the Old Consumer. In Freyenstein, visitors can expect a summer exhibition under the motto “Surf & Sun – The Bears on Summer Vacation” in the doll museum, which can be seen from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you would rather experience your weekly fresh produce in Neuruppin, you can visit the weekly fresh market on the school square from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Cultural enjoyment at a high level

Neuruppin has a special offer for art lovers on Friday. From 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. there is the opportunity to take part in a fountain painting session for beginners in the temple garden - registration is required by July 16th. The exhibition “Neuruppin: Home in Pictures” will also be presented in the monastery church from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., including watercolor paintings by Cornelia Felsch. From 5 p.m. there will be a mini-concert for the organ in the monastery church, and in the evening at 7 p.m. the sold-out songwriter duo Kraemer & Tschirpke will perform in Olaf's workshop.

The heart of culture also beats high in Rheinsberg: the weekly market on the church square creates a convivial atmosphere from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by a cabaret with Gisela Oechelhaeuser at 7:30 p.m. in the music distillery. Not to forget the sausage and fresh produce market in Wittstock, which opens its doors from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., as well as a rummy tournament in Wustrau from 6 p.m.

A weekend full of experiences

Saturday brings a variety of other events, such as a concert with “Bagpipes & Scottish Rock” in the church of Christdorf from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the Neptune Festival in Freyenstein from 2 p.m. In Neuruppin you can choose between a weekly fresh market and the meadow flea market at Hangar-312 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For those with musical ears, there is summer music to enjoy in Rheinsberg, in the St. Lawrence Church, at 4 p.m.

In the winter garden, the theater will be showcasing “Shakespeare's Complete Works – Slightly Abridged” on Sunday in Kyritz, while a fairy tale reading will take place in the fairytale forest in the monastery garden. And that's not all: you shouldn't miss the castle festival in Goldbeck with its vernissage and theater performance. Considerable opportunities for young and old!
