Construction on the B 103: road users have to prepare for closures!

From July 14th, it will be quite turbulent along the federal road B 103 between Vehlow in the municipality of Gumtow and Gantikow. The official groundbreaking ceremony for a comprehensive renovation project is imminent, as Frank Schmidt, head of the planning department at the Street Streets, reports. However, many residents and those affected remain unsettled because direct information about the course of the work has so far been in short supply.

In a message, the spokesman for the state company, Steffen Streu, announced in May that the construction work should begin in mid -July. First, the construction of a cycle path is on the plan next to the B 103. However, it remains unclear whether the main street must be blocked immediately or whether only the bike path is affected. Residents fear that traffic will increase primarily on the surrounding side streets, especially at traffic jams on B 103.

The construction work is more than just a patch on the street: they include the renewal of twelve nodes, bus bays, confluence and lane divisors. Surface drainage in particular is being redesigned. In addition, a deep installation of the B 103 in the local locations is planned for Gantikow and Vehlow and at the Jäglitz Bridge. These measures are not only important for traffic safety, but also contribute to the attractiveness of the region, since many defects have accumulated over the years

The renewal goes hand in hand with the need to repair the side paths in front of the actual construction site. Mayor Christiane Wolf from Vehlow therefore calls for a residents' meeting to make the construction process more clearly. In the past, residents had hardly any opportunities to help shape the project, which increased the displeasure.

The project has not only been delayed due to a lack of information. Change of personnel and unexplained real estate cases have also contributed to the fact that the start of construction had to be postponed again and again.
