On July 13, 2025, the idyllic Werbellinsee in Joachimsthal will once again be the venue for an exciting triathlon. This series of events has established itself as an integral part of the region and attracts up to 1,000 participants who will give their best in the disciplines of swimming, cycling and running. The event takes place in the picturesque Seezeit resort, which acts as the perfect backdrop for sports and nature. How moz.de reports, the organizers have once again put together an exciting program that will appeal to both professional and amateur athletes.

Participants can choose from seven different categories, including the Freenet Olympic Distance and the GLG Sprint Distance. The distances range from 0.1 km for children to 1.5 km for the Olympic distance. Routes are expected to be partially closed from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the day of the event, including state roads L23 and L238, to ensure smooth operations. Bus line 915 will also only run as far as Werbellin during this time werbellinseetriathlon.de supplemented.

An event for the whole family

The Werbellinsee Triathlon has something to offer for every age group. While children born between 2012 and 2017 are allowed to take part in a special children's triathlon, adults in various age groups are also in demand. Adults can choose from popular triathlon as well as sprint and Olympic distances. Special facilities, such as free participation for children with a recommended donation, ensure that the event is also attractive for families.

Participants can look forward to comprehensive competition support. This includes, among other things, electronic timekeeping with transponders, the distribution of swimming caps and attractive catering at the finish line. After the competition, sweet and savory snacks are available to replenish energy reserves. Back to basics

For many, triathlon is not only a sporting challenge, but also a social event that brings people together. In recent decades, this trend has gained popularity, as the history of triathlon shows. The first competition took place in San Diego in 1974, and since the 1980s more and more triathlons have emerged in Germany. With the founding of the German Triathlon Union (DTU) in 1985 and the inclusion of the sport in the Olympic program in 2000, triathlon established itself as a serious discipline.

With the Werbellinsee Triathlon, the Joachimsthal region can not only score points in terms of sport, but also showcase the beauty of its nature and community. So if you're up for an exciting challenge or just want to spend a day at the lake, you should mark the event in your calendar!
