Things will soon become uncomfortable for commuters and travelers in Brandenburg, because from June 16 to 23, 2025, the timetables of numerous train lines will change due to construction work. The regional trains RE5, RB12, RB20, RB32, RB54 and the S-Bahn line S8 are particularly affected. Loud MAZ, passengers must prepare for various restrictions.
The greatest attention falls on the RE5 line, which runs between Stralsund and Berlin-Südkreuz. The route between Oranienburg and Berlin-Südkreuz will not be served until July 31st, after which travelers will be offered the S-Bahn as a replacement. The RB12, which connects Templin via Oranienburg with Berlin-Ostkreuz, is also taking a deliberate break: on the evenings of June 16th and 17th, there will be no connections from Zehdenick to Berlin-Ostkreuz from 8:45 p.m., with buses and S-Bahn trains serving as a bypass.
Further construction sites and timetable changes
From June 18th until 4:30 a.m., the route between Templin and Löwenberg will also be interrupted and buses will be available again to transport travelers. From June 20th to July 31st there will be another gap: the connection between Nassenheide and Berlin-Ostkreuz will also be suspended from 8:45 p.m.
The RB20 from Oranienburg to Golm must stop every day between 8:15 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. until June 20th, and there will also be restrictions here between June 23rd and July 31st. The RB32 is also struggling; The connection between Oranienburg and Berlin-Lichtenberg will be canceled until last July and passengers will have to resort to the S-Bahn.
Last but not least, the RB54 will be completely taken out of traffic by June 30th because construction work is getting in the way here too. Buses are used as an alternative. The S8 joins the chaos: From June 20th, 9:45 p.m. to June 23rd, 1:30 a.m., travelers between Birkenwerder and Berlin-Pankow have to use the S1 and buses from Hohen Neuendorf.
